The Blood Moon Cometh

I was recently doing some research on some celestial bodies and came across this little tid-bit of prophetical doomsday that is coming up this week.

Blood-Moon-665x385On April 15th we will see a Full Lunar Eclipse, commonly referred to as a Blood Moon. What makes this one special is that it is the first of what is called the Lunar Tetrad. I bet you’re wondering, “What the heck is a Lunar Tetrad?”. According to EarthSky.org it is defined as “…four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses in between, each of which is separated from the other by six lunar months (six full moons)…” This makes the Lunar Tetrad a two year event.

So you may be wondering about that prophetical doomsday I mentioned at the beginning of the post. Last year Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change was published and (although I myself haven’t read it yet but I did put it on my Kindle to read) it apparently draws some comparison to previous events and scripture. Here’s what the book’s description says on Amazon:

Four Blood Moons John HageeOver the last 500 years, blood-red moons have fallen on the first day of Passover three separate times. These occurrences were connected to some of the most significant days in Jewish history: 1492 (the final year of the Spanish Inquisition when Jews were expelled from Spain), 1948 (statehood for Israel and the War of Independence) and 1967 (the Six-Day War). Every heavenly body is controlled by the unseen hand of God, which signals coming events to humanity. There are no solar or lunar accidents. The next series of four blood moons occurs at Passover and Sukkot in 2014 and 2015. In this riveting book, Hagee explores what these blood moons mean and why Christians must understand these signs and what they bode both for Israel and the world. Joel 2 and Acts 2 both state: “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness [eclipse] and the moon into blood [eclipse] before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.”

Sounds absolutely apocalyptical! Of course, I’m still going to plan on going to work the next day. I think if the world had ended every time someone had said it would, I never would have made it out of the eighties.

I do however love being able to see a Blood Moon. I find it to often be an inspirational sight of change, all prophesies aside. Here’s the timeline for the eclipse for anyone in New York City from TimeandDate.com’s Eclipse Calculator:

Are you looking forward to the Blood Moon? Or is the Super Moon more to your liking?
